NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Troy Allen Edwards was sentenced to 35 years in prison, with 20 years suspended, for the death of a 4-year-old Norfolk girl.
Edwards was charged with Felony Homicide and Child Neglect/Abuse.
In August 2008, Jathiya Wooden falsely told police that her daughter, Tamera, had disappeared from a playground. Wooden later admitted that the child's body was hidden in a closet in the 300 block of Little Creek Road.
Wooden told prosecutors that she stabbed the girl with an umbrella after the child tried to break free from being pinned behind a dresser as punishment.
In January, Wooden was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder. Edwards was Wooden's boyfriend, he was not Tamera's father.
Doctors said Tamera was starved, deprived of water and forced to stay in confined spaces. An autopsy found injuries on every part of the child's body.

See this makes me sick! This woman and the boyfriend are allowed to live? Where is the justice for this little girl that was starved, and pinned with a dresser for punishment?!!! The mother stabbed her with an umbrella who in the hell does this to children?! Not only that her OWN child?! Ugh stories like this make me SICK. I feel like the years put together equals about nothing to the loss of that little girl. Its so heart breaking. :(
